Hopsys Biomed is a web-application to manage and maintain Instruments lifecycle within a Hospital. Biomedical department manager and technician were primary user for this application. Instrument procurement, maintenance and service calls are managed using this application.
Design Process
User Research
Initially we started with Medium Size Hospital as a whole and did exploratory research to understand the ecosystem. It constitutes of mostly understanding of various departments within a hospital, major user roles in play and intra/inter connections. Operation Theatre became core of our research as its mostly driving the earnings of a hospital.

Patient Flow within Operation Theatre
Once we saw enormous task at hand, we prioritize focus area as operation theatre and tried to see proceeding through the perspective of a patient. Needless to say all services were revolving around patients journey. We created a flowchart describing whole patient journey with actors and information involved. To our surprise their are many actors with multiple roles doing various tasks.

Biomedical Department
After going through research for multiple departments, Hospital Executives gave us green signal to research, design and develop an application for Biomedical Department. This department was in dire need of an application such that all instruments within hospital could be tracked and maintained in proper condition.
Understanding Ecosystem
Our first step was to understand department ecosystem and all its moving parts. We used research techniques like Exploratory interviews, Contextual Enquiry, shadowing etc to develop our understanding. All gathered data goes to whiteboard for analysis and insights.
